Retirement Coaching
Let me help you create the retirement life you deserve.
Retirement as it was defined and lived a generation ago no
longer exists. Today, 10,000 people retire every day in the USA alone, and no
two retirements look alike. There is clearly a revolution taking place
regarding this momentous life transition. Consider these facts:
- The average age of first retirement is 57.
- Because of the increases in longevity in Western culture
we now spend more time in retirement than other stages of life, sometimes
as long as 30 or 40 years.
- Many retirees have one, two or more post-retirement
careers.
- The most common malady in retirement is depression. This
can set in as early as the first year.
While many people have planned for their financial well
being after retirement, many have given little time or thought to the
non-financial aspects of retirement. Have you thought about some of these
important questions?
- What is my vision for my retirement?
- How do I want to spend my time after I retire?
- Do I want to work or volunteer? If so, how much time do I want to work?
- Where do I want to live?
- What interests would I like to pursue now that I have more time?
- How will I develop a new sense of identify now that I don’t have a career or business card?
- How will I recreate the sense of purpose and meaning that my job gave me?
- How will I maintain friendships with former work colleagues? What other new relationships would I like to develop?
- How will my retirement impact my relationship with my spouse or significant other?
If you have not given much thought to these questions, you are not alone.
Who Should Use a Retirement Coach?
- Anyone thinking about retiring in less than 5 years.
- People who are already retired, but who are feeling bored and unfulfilled.
- Anyone who has yet to clarify what their ideal retirement looks like had how they can get the most out of what could be the longest phase of
their life.
- People who need a strategy for achieving unfulfilled dreams.
Retirement Success Profile (RSP)©
Because we have so many more retirement options today, and
because everyone’s ideal retirement is different, I
offer, and strongly recommend, the Retirement Success Profile Assessment (RSP)
as a basis for Retirement Planning. The RSP is a scientifically designed
assessment tool that has been validated, administered and interpreted by
thousands of individuals over the past 18 years and continually refined along
the way.
RSP not only compares you
(where you are now) to yourself (where you hope to be) it also compares your
attitudes about retirement, readiness, strengths or weaknesses to thousands of
others who have taken the same assessment.
The RSP provides an enormous
amount of information literally in minutes which might otherwise take weeks or
months to uncover. Some people experience immediate insight and develop plans
for action just from viewing the results.
